Interview with a victim and former member of Los Angeles Gang Culture
November 14th, 2007 · 2 Comments
This weekend I had the pleasure of interviewing Maria Salazar who has the courage and vision to share her story. Maria tells her story of growing up in a gang culture and being bused to a nicer area for school-Woodland Hills, but always feeling left out despite having the opportunity to go to a nicer school. Maria has fully recovered from the shooting she was involved in and was able to escape the gangs. Now she works with the Salvation Army and works with teens doing gang prevention.

Whether you are in High School or college or grad school, teachers constantly assign reading for homework. Sometimes you have textbook chapters, novels, plays, medical books or essays and research papers. Many of my clients and friends while I was in college spend time mindlessly reading only to
a) not remember anything they read
b) have to re-read sections in class during discussions
c) have to re-read sections or the whole thing before a test
d) cannot find any important points when they are trying to write essays from the assigned reading.
e) cannot connect this reading to any other class assignments or other readings.
